A summary of the part of nature that zoology deals with, that is, animals. A related term is flora , which is used in botany. For example, the fauna is divided according to systematic criteria (fauna birds , fauna molluscs , etc.), by geographical area, by ecological considerations (eg desert fauna) or by size (microscopic and macroscopic species).
