Zuzana Čaputová

Zuzana Čaputová is a Slovakian politician and lawyer who currently serves as the fifth President of Slovakia. She was born on June 21, 1973 in Bratislava, Slovakia. Čaputová studied law at Comenius University in Bratislava and later obtained a master's degree in environmental law from the Pan-European University. She began her career as an environmental activist, fighting against illegal landfill sites and corruption in the Slovakian government.

In 2010, Čaputová co-founded the non-governmental organization "Via Iuris" which focuses on promoting transparency and fighting corruption in Slovakia. She also worked as a lawyer for this organization, representing citizens in environmental cases.

In 2016, Čaputová became Vice-Chair of the Progressive Slovakia party and was elected as a member of the Bratislava regional parliament. In March 2019, she announced her candidacy for President of Slovakia and ran on a platform of anti-corruption, environmental protection, and social justice.

Čaputová won the presidential election with over 58% of the vote, becoming the first woman to hold this position in Slovakia.
