Karel Jaromír Erben (1811-1870) was a Czech poet and folklorist. He is best known for his collection of poems, Kytice (Bouquet), which is considered one of the most important works of Czech literature. His work was heavily influenced by traditional Czech folklore and mythology, and he was an important figure in the revival of Czech national identity during the 19th century. Erben's work has been translated into many languages and continues to be widely read today.
